I was reading poppytalk over the weekend and saw sara smedley's drop-dead gorgeous aprons (a Scoutie Girl post will be forthcoming.) I visited Sara's etsy shop and noticed that she was from Lenhartsville, PA, which is very close to me. I was super-intrigued then, so I visited Sara's blog.
As I scrolled down the page, I noticed a small sidebar picture of the beautiful, golden Linden trees on my street - in the next block! It really didn't register at first b/c I'm so familiar with that image and those houses - but then I was like, "Wait a minute! How did she (or someone) get that pic? Is that really my street? Holy $hit, it really is! I think I have the same picture!"
Here's mine (which doesn't do it justice at all):
The pic I saw was used as a background on a banner for the blog handmade in PA:
If I had moved my camera a smidge to the right, you would see the same houses as in her pic. So, of course, I went to the handmade in PA blog and dug a little further. I eventually emailed the proprietor, Tara - and it turns out she lives just around the corner! How crazy is that?! Who knew? Our pics were taken within a day of one another, too! [These trees are very fussy, and you don't always get the gold every year - or even get it in the right light to appreciate it. We both ran home to get our cameras after seeing how spectacular it was!]
Tara is doing a great job promoting artists in PA. She was featured in the business section of our paper today: see article here. Very cool to learn about the little things being done to promote the handmade genre - every little bit counts! Nice work, Tara!
