with the mistress of the house on full lockdown, i feel like more of prison warden than a small business owner these days. when it's my turn to be with her & make sure she doesn't move a muscle, i have been sitting dutifully nearby with a cup of coffee and my sketchbook (and new micron pens). there are so many motifs i draw that come naturally b/c i've doodled or painted them 1000 times since 9th grade. i need/want to get better at being able to repeat, repeat, repeat any element when i draw it (even tho i know illustrator can do that for me). just something about the sketched variation of a repeated design. i've been thinking about sundresses and fluffy outdoor chair cushions, and i think these pretty leaves would be resplendent on a flowy chemise or under my derriere. matt said they look like pittsburgh steelers' leaves. thank you, funny valentine. i like how you talk in code, using football comparisons when you really mean 'the underappreciated but beautiful, velvety leaves of the boxwood.'
