Cute, right? Lotsa potential for sure, but seeing as how I just had to cut myself out of this muslin mock-up, I think I'll need to revisit adding a side zipper or redesign it to include elastic somewhere. I knew I was in trouble when slipping it on became a game of pull-here-tug-there-inch-inch-inch-don't-get-a- kink-in-your-neck-OMG!
It is very, very unlike me to test out a design. Impatience, cockiness? Little bit of both. In this case, I plan to make the final tank top out of one of my Geo Grand fabrics....my willingness to try it out in muslin first must mean there's a limit to my confidence. Alls I know is I'm flipping glad I didn't wreck even an inch of the good stuff for this mishap! Kinda don't like the ties in the back, so elastic may be a better choice after all.
Tip: It is def a good idea to have someone help you apply sunscreen on your back so don't end up with blotchy sunburn 5 hours later (see exhibit B above). Apparently, I am not the best sewist ever OR the best sunscreen applier. This sucks. (a la Napoleon Dynamite)
