Recently, my mom said to me, "I admire the fact that you're such a doer!" It kind of caught me off-guard b/c I hadn't thought of myself as such. In the course of a day, we all fill various roles: alarm clock, banker, cook, tutor, dogwalker, caregiver, maid, janitor, landscaper, driver, role model, secret-keeper, playmate, shopper, disciplinarian...and that's just off the top of my head.* All these labels, yet a 'doer' hadn't ever entered my mind.
Why? Probably like most of you, I think of myself in the context of what I offer to others and not in terms of what I do for myself. My mom was def talking about the latter, and seeing what I look like from her perspective is challenging b/c it requires a total spotlight-mindset shift. No matter, I will do it and relish in the attribution bestowed upon me. For a minute or two. Gotta go...laundry is calling!
What role or label are you enjoying today?
*My husband fills all these roles in our house, too. Have to give credit where credit is due!

To all the mid-century modern lovers out there, check out the chairs, the lamp, the curtains! Wish I could pluck them out of the pic and drop them in my living room!
Mumsy:
It takes a doer to know a doer. You have always been that person for me, and I wouldn't be where I am today had it not been for that exact character trait you've modeled for me all my life! I admire YOU a great deal and appreciate all that you continue to do and be in your life! { Pink bathrobes and all ;) } Happy Mother's Day!
