The immensely talented Lesley of smidgebox recently made these incredible fabric buckets using all 6 fabrics in the Geo Grand collection. She worked her sewing magic making 3 nested, box-shaped buckets; each is fully lined with a contrasting fabric, which she also used to make the peek-a-boo reverse applique on the fronts. She is the first one (besides me) to wash and sew with Geo Grand! (I was a weee bit nervous...)
Lesley had this to say about Geo Grand organic fabrics:
"Let me tell you, I absolutely loved working with this fabric. Not only is it gorgeous to look at, but I just love the weight and the feel of it. Crisp, smooth, perfect. Love it!! The weight lends itself perfectly to this project, and I love the way the seams lie, with a little substance but nice and smooth. The peek-a-boos worked great, and it was an all-around joy to work with your collection. YAY!!
I cannot wait to get some more for myself, as I mentioned before my mom was dying over it, and I definitely plan on making her a bag. I can think of about a million other projects it would be perfect for!! ;)"
I connected with Lesley last year via our blogs & twitter (here is Lesley's blog). One peek at her handmade wares and I could tell she had an eye for unique fabric pairings and that her sewing was really well-done! She's also pretty darn nice - I'm lucky to have gotten to know her.
Would you look at that stitching?! Lesley is a perfectionist in the best way - every seam is lined up just-so, and her topstitching is tremendous. She sent process shots to me along the way (not shown), and it's apparent her products are made to last - her seams are all reinforced...she does not cut corners.
Lesley makes all sorts of soft goods: totes for kids & adults, cloth blocks, fabric buckets like these, wee blankets and baby gift sets. She can customize just about anything. Be sure to check out her etsy shop, smidgebox! Thank you so much Lesley - I appreciate your skills and kind words ever so much!! :)
