Saying it loud and proud:
This organic cotton fabric ~ from my Geo Grand collection ~ is an absolute DREAM to sew with!
I feel a twinge of quilt guilt that I haven't sewn with these fabrics in this context sooner, esp b/c I love to sew. With Quilt Market looming (Booth #1165), I decided the Geo Grands and I had ogled one another long enough - we got down to business today, and I'm completely floating!! This quilt will be on display in my booth (that was #1165), along with another very special quilt a very special chickadee is making! And many other goodies!
I love the feel, I love the weight, I love the colors.
I love making something from nothing.
I love stepping back to see what's taking shape.
I love the fact that I have no clue how this quilt will look when it's done!
Not pinning, not planning more than a step in advance. However, I am taking copious notes so I can replicate the design for a free pattern - whatwhich? Yes, a free downloadable pdf pattern! And if this one doesn't fly, I'll come up with another!
These photos are not touched up at all (auto, no flash), and these are the truest I think I've captured the blues and the apple-chartreuse to date! They are pretty vivid and rich in person, but they're also tricksters so I've had a tough time communicating their saturation via images. Hope you see what I see out there!
The chocolate brown is an organic cotton sateen from Harmony Art that matches Geo Grand perfectly b/c Harmony and I collaborated on this hue. If you're a hobbyist or homesewer and you'd like to buy Geo Grand and this solid chocolate from the same retailer, try Modern Organic Fabrics or Pure Coverz.
This vertical orientation got me nodding along in approval - think I will pursue this further. Finished images to come early next week!
Have a super duper weekend!! Thanks for stopping by!
