It's just about time for me to sign-off for 2010. My virtual self needs to go into hibernation so my real self can get ready for a full-tilt bozo entrance into 2011. I'll be doing some organizing and prepping behind the scenes and savoring this precious & very unscheduled time with my family.
A snuggly rec room quilt & two super soft pillows from Holley & Gill will provide just the right amount of cozy comfort for my weary bones & eyes. I'm looking forward to not burning the candle at both ends for at least 2 weeks ~ and evenmoreso, not feeling the pressure to do so.

Next week, I'll repost some projects and whatnot for the heck of it ~ maybe they'll give you some fun ideas to try or help with last minute crafting and packaging. I'm also expecting strike-offs of Shades of Grey, so I may pop in to share those as well!
How will you spend the next few weeks?
Will you take a respite or work or both?

Speaking of the Rec Room Quilt.
This is the quilt I created in October for my Quilt Market booth. I washed it about a month ago for the first time, and we've been putting it to good lounge-y use ever since. WOWOWOWOWOWOW! It has become one seriously coveted lap quilt around here!
How did the Geo Grand fabrics wash?
The colors are as vibrant as ever, the shrinkage was minimal, and the hand of the fabric is just pure velvet. It's supple. It flows. It drapes. It's scrumptiously soft!!!
There are many, many factors that dictate how a fabric will behave once sewn & washed (i.e. the last stage of transformation): the type of cotton fiber, the size and number of yarns used to weave the cloth, the printing method, the finishing techniques... it's an incredibly involved process with lots 'o variables that affect the quality of the final output.
I am positively beaming at how these factors have come together just-so in the Geo Grand fabrics to yield such a yummy organic cotton fabric!!! I pinch myself when I'm petting near this quilt to be sure this isn't a crazy dream! Well, I guess it kind of is a crazy dream in some sense, right?
