These beautiful strike-offs of Daisy Janie's upcoming Shades of Grey organic fabric collection arrived last week. My first impressions out of the envelope were boisterous hoots and hollars of glee! Except for River Rock (see way down below), the gradations of grey throughout the collection are spot-on as they're depicted in the images above and below this text (note: your monitor settings may affect how these greys come through).
So what's next?
- My approvals & changes were passed onto the mill, and production printing is underway.
- Fabrics will be inspected and will receive their Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certificate. They'll make their 4-week journey to the US.
- In the meantime, sample yardage of the collection will be received, photographed, and dispersed for press requests & sample sewers (more on that in another post).
- Swatch requests for Shades of Grey will be fulfilled with the sample yardage (more on that, too).
- Finger drumming will ensue while I wait patiently for delivery of the entire order.
- If all goes smoothly, Shades of Grey will be shipping to retailers at the end of February.
Resellers/Manufacturers:
Pre-orders are now being accepted. If you are interested in stocking or working with Shades of Grey, you may visit the wholesale ordering page on the Daisy Janie website to download the application & order form.
All wholesale pre-orders will receive a free fat quarter bundle when Daisy Janie receives sample yardage.
I wish it were possible to show you larger sections of each design, but these pieces are quite small and portions are covered with labels.
Above:
Shown with a couple sewing props to give you an idea of scale. With the scissors and pins so close to the bundle, I found it very hard to resist cutting and whipping them into something! Maybe I will anyway!
River Rock, which is in the top-left corner above, is the only design that needed to be color-corrected. The darkest grey should actually be one notch darker ~ a really deep, almost black, charcoal grey. That shade will match the darkest grey in both Ragg Tagg (bottom-left) and Zipper Tape (bottom-right).
Above & Below:
Basking in the sun. One of my first sewing projects with Shades of Grey will be a queen-sized duvet cover and pillow shams (and a tutorial). Seeing how the sun pours over this stack makes me wish I could climb in there like a little mouse and go to sleep until the collection arrives! No rest for the weary tho, right? Right!
