Daisy Janie's soon-to-be-released-unleashed organic fabric collection, Shades of Grey, is featured in the latest issue of Quilter's World magazine. I designed a twin-sized quilt called "Greydations," which you can see below. They did such a great job styling that quilt - I'd like to go take a nap in that little nook! The opposite page features the fabric requirements and a full pattern for making the Greydations quilt.
Greydations is only the 2nd quilt I've ever made, and my very 1st quilt binding (done by machine). I had very little time over Thanksgiving weekend last year, so I kept it simple & straightforward. If I can do it, anybody can do it!
You can see the beginnings of the Greydations quilt here. When I was attaching the binding, I was literally going back and forth from my sewing machine to a few tutorials online to make sure I was doing it right. The internet rocks in this regard, although it would have been so nice to learn from a friend or my mom! Seems like I'm missing out on the conviviality that quilting has historically encompassed - as well as the treasured 'passed-down' skills and experience of others. For that reason, I've been thinking more and more about joining the Philadelphia Modern Quilt Guild, which would the closest to me at a little over an hour away.
Are you in a quilt guild or other sewing group? What do you like most about it?
