I think I need to wrangle myself back into a regular routine of blogging about cooking and sewing and crafting and doggies and pretty things and life b/c lately I'm completely obsessed with the New Leaf fabrics! All I want to do is come here and write public love letters to them! For now, I will refrain... but as obsessions go, it's hard to resist!
What I did wrangle recently were a few images of all the strike-offs together. When I shared pics a few weeks ago, I didn't show all 8 designs b/c 2 of them needed some tweaking. One of those changes included a color swap-out on the Fantail Lemon design. I felt there needed to be more orange-y porange-y representation in the group - and that design was the best place to pull that in. Now, there is a rich flow in the hues across the collection. Aaaaaahhhhh..... I am so, so pleased with these fabrics!
I will have production yardage to start playing with in the next 2 weeks. If you have any ideas for these fabrics, I'd love to hear them!
To give the fabrics a little depth / shadow play and to make the strike-offs appear more ample than the tiny pieces they really are, I photographed them over cut fabric tubes about 12" long. I intended to hide the ends to give the illusion of bolts, but I really love how they look with the ends showing - rough cut and all.
In the past, I've folded strike-offs over my son's books to achieve a similar effect. Totally works, especially if you have a kids' series where all the books are the same size. Like Percy Jackson or Artemis Fowl.
Love you New Leaf!
